Hanna & Mytchel | Charming Rustic Family Farm Wedding in Black River Falls, WI

I’m head over heels in love with Hanna and Mytchel’s wedding day!  There is so much family history and years of love surrounding their story, grab a box of tissues and get ready for a tear-jerker here!

They chose Hanna’s family farm, which has been in the family for over 160 years, as the perfect backdrop to their wedding day.  Tucked away in the rolling hills of Black River Falls, it offers beautiful Wisconsin views with big blue skies and puffy little “Toy Story” clouds floating by.

I arrived to a very full and busy house!  There was excitement buzzing all around me as I started the morning off with the ladies in the main house, working on the carefully selected details of the day.  The soft touches of pink complimented the gold and brown details perfectly.  I headed up to the guys to see what they were up to (your typical shenanigans, of course!); and we shared some laughs, and some sweet moments as Mytchel opens his gift from Hanna.  I have to say, the guys were a good looking group and going a little more casual with their look worked so wonderfully- who doesn’t like guys in suspenders and bowties?!

It was time for Hanna to slip into her gown so I went back to visit the ladies for a bit.  She wore a beautiful gown perfect for her wedding day; lace and floral applique made her gown a dream!  She finished her final details and we were off to her family’s little white church to get these two married!

This is where their story gets even better!  Mytchel and Hanna shared a warm and loving ceremony at their family church, surrounded by family and friends. It was a beautiful ceremony with significant meaning- with more than 142 years of family marriage in its history!!! Hanna’s great-great grandparents, and great grandparents were married at the church, and she marked the SIXTH generation to be wed there! What a blessing! The church (no longer in routinely operation) had a lot of work done to get it ready for their ceremony. What a labor of love!  Every seat was filled and the aisle dressed with dried flowers as Hanna walked to her Groom.  There wasn’t a dry eye in the house and even if you didn’t know the history of the church and how special it was to their family, you felt it!  They sealed it with a kiss and we headed back to the farm for a party!

Hanna and Mytchel set aside a some time for bridal party photos before heading down to the barn for their reception.  It was a beautiful evening and the labor of love shown through again as I admired their beautiful decor and planned activities for their guests!  There were carnival games, yard games, a trail mix bar in the barn, dance floor under the barn, and dining room in the tent beside the barn!  They didn’t miss a single thing- and once again, everything was a labor of love provided by their family and friends- even their meal!  That’s right, family prepared, cooked, and served every guest!

We planned on going into dancing after dinner, but some weather was threatening their golden hour session, and the light was dripping with golden goodness, so we decided to go for it quickly before we missed the opportunity.  Hanna and Mitchel snuck away for a sweet session when the light was perfect- and good thing we did because the clouds rolled in shortly after!  We headed in for some dancing, (Hanna’s dad made me cry- again!), getting the party kicked off where they continued to dance the night away!  Congratulations Mytchel and Hanna, thank you for asking me to hare in your special day!  A special thanks to Sara Baillies for her amazing talent second shooting!
